About Us

Hello! I'm Denise, founder of Organized Essex. I’ve been making cakes since I was fifteen, in an ill-advised attempt on my eldest sister’s eighteenth birthday! Since then, I’ve baked hundreds more, and got into catering as well, founding this business (along with our sister company, Truly Scrumptious Children’s Cooking Parties), in June 2009, before my eldest started primary school.

Excitingly, this led me to the set of Bake Off: An Extra Slice last October! I took in a gala pie (and a cake that looked just like one) for the Pastry Week recap, and alongside my husband and my daughter, wound up on the TV! We’re pictured together at the top, along with the pie and pie-cake, respectively. Perhaps the best review I’ve ever been given was from Jonathan Ross, who said the cake was lovely, plus the fact that I won the Star Baker wooden spoon!

Outside of my television pursuits (ha!), I am an ex-child social worker and a mum of two grown up children. I have a Level 3 Food Hygiene certification personally, and our business has a 5-star Food Hygiene Rating, which we are very pleased with!

We are based in Braintree, Essex, and generally speaking have a 20-mile travelling radius, although following discussion we may be able to travel further.
